REPORT: Jake Williams was often a question mark for last year’s GoonSquad season. After the first two games of last season Jake Williams missed the majority of the remaining games. Williams was said to be dealing with a severe foot injury, affecting his play.
Rumors have speculated that Williams had “other priorities” that took over during that time. Fans were worried that Williams would not return to the team, one fan had even spotted him on a day visit with the Washington Wizards. Others also heard he was going to hang up his jersey and move towards the bench (as a coach).
However, he has returned to play and he may just be a key defender this season. His height and team-first mentality just might have positive effects on and off the court. Williams’ lack of appearance in the 2025 season might surprise opposing teams.
We spoke to Williams and he had many thoughts. “My priority has always been with the GoonSquad. I love these players but more importantly I love the game.” In talking about the current season he thinks it will be the best one yet. “With this group of guys we could take it all the way this year”
Hopefully this year Williams is true to his word and he will be back on the court, where he belongs.
